RTCmeter ("we", "our", or "us") operates the RTCmeter website and the RTCmobile Android application. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring transparency about how our application functions.
1. Data Collection
RTCmeter is a real-time connection monitoring utility. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information, location data, or browsing history to any external servers. Everything happens locally on your device.
2. Permissions & Data Access
To function correctly, the RTCmobile app requires specific permissions on your Android device. These are used exclusively for core app functionality:
- Local Network / Wi-Fi State: We require access to your network state to identify your default gateway IP address.
- Location Permission: Android operating systems require apps to declare location permissions to access detailed Wi-Fi information (like the SSID/BSSID or gateway). RTCmeter does not use GPS or track your physical location.
3. Data Usage & Ephemeral Processing
The network data accessed by our app is processed ephemerally (in real-time). The app performs ICMP pings to measure latency and packet loss. This data is displayed live on your screen and is immediately discarded. It is never uploaded to the cloud or saved long-term.
4. Third-Party Sharing
We do not share, sell, or disclose any user data to third-party services, advertisers, or analytics providers. The app contains no trackers or hidden background data-harvesting modules.
